Spaniel Working Test, Clytha Park, Abergavenny - Sunday 7th July 2019

SUNDAY 7TH JULY, we were lucky enough to experience great weather and good numbers as we held our final Spaniel Working Test of 2019 at Clytha Park, Abergavenny by kind permission of Mr Hanbury-Tennison.

Competitors were judged under the watchful eye of Alan Willis, Victoria Williams and Alex Hayes.

HPR Working Test, Charlton Park, Malmsbury - Sunday 9th June 2019

On Sunday 9^th June 2019, Usk Valley Working Gundog Club held their annual HPR Working Test at Charlton Park , Malmesbury by kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Suffolk and Berkshire.  Our Judges for the day were as follows;

As always, the HPR provision at Usk Valley is always well supported and we welcomed 61 dogs to the grounds, with weather conditions being kind to us.  We welcomed a number of applicants who had travelled 2 – 3 hrs to enter these events, so our appreciation and thanks to those that made the trek.

The day ran like clockwork and our extended thanks go to Mel Crook, Ashley Nesbet, Paul Jones, Thomas Jones, Mac Mattravers and Richard Doran who threw dummies throughout the day and supported with setting up and closing down the event.  In addition, thank you to Vikki Kirby for cooking breakfast and dinner for the judges and helpers and kept the tent in order.  Thank you to Pauline Kirby for overseeing the organisation of the day and to Mandy Hicks for her support with the scores and certification.  Thank you to Skinners Dog Food for their sponsorship and all involved behind the scenes.

Thank you to Lord and Lady Suffolk who were present throughout the day and spoke with competitors.  Thank you for presenting the awards at the end of the day, a lovely way to compliment such a great event.

What a great day we have had today at our first Retriever Working Test of the season.  A fantastic turnout from our competitors and thank you to all those that have shown their support to one and other and the club.

Spaniel Working Test, Big Pit, Blaenavon - 20th August 2016

Retriever Working Test, Big Pit, Blaenavon - 14th August 2016

  

A huge thank you to Tyrone "Sarge" Axford for running his final working test as the Retriever Secretary for Usk Valley, following 5 years hard but enjoyable graft within this role.  Sarge is staying on the committee but will now have some time out to run and work his own dogs.  On behalf of the Club and Committee "Thank you".

Thank you to our judges, Mr Brian Gregory, Mrs Julia Redpath, Mr Andy Fisher and Mr Craig Perry, who provided some challenging yet enjoyable tests for our competitors within puppy, novice and open classes today.  Thank you to our administration team, dummy throwers, stewards and to Mr Alan Llwellyn for allowing us to host our test on his grounds and his family for providing the burger van.

Congratulations to Nigel Probert and Slipside Danzy Jones on winning the Skinners Fleece Challenge of 2015/2016.  Well done to all our award winners;

Unfortunately an error was made on the scoring for the Puppy Class, 3rd place should have been awarded to Mr Nick Swan and Constanigree Shooting Star.  On behalf of the Committee we would like to offer our sincere apology to Mr Swan, who should have been in the award presentation today.

THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who were able to come and support our final Spaniel Working Test of 2015. It has been a wonderful day and the weather didn't put anyone off as we welcomed our largest competitor and spectating crowd to date. 2013 Retriever & Spaniel Working Tests - venues included Glan Usk, Trippen Kennett, Clytha and Park Farm in Caerleon.
Once again, we held our Skinner's Challenge this year (the dog with the most points across all 4 tests), and were delighted to announce that the winner for 2013 is Claire Raymond with FTCh Levenghyl Beetle who received a Skinner's bag of dog food and an embroidered fleece.  Congratulations and well done to Claire!
